How to Be Included In Google News and Get SWARMS of traffic
Sunday, August 31st, 2008
You want swarms of traffic from Google? Who doesn’t. There’s no surer way to drive armies of traffic to your website than inclusion in Google news.
Recent changes at Google to a system of “Universal Search” are causing Google News results to show up, not only when you use the Google News tab, but whenever you type in anything in the main search box. And Google News search results rank well. Really well.
Now it may not be right for your business, but it’s good to have this option on the table.
First let’s talk about how to get it done. You need to do a Google search for “Submit to Google News” to get to the form.
But they won’t just accept any article that you think might be news.
They are looking for seven characteristics to your site before they let you in and here’s what they are. As you read these you might be thinking “I guess I need to turn my site into a news site” and that’s pretty much what you need to do.
- You need to have an original story. A rewriting of a story already in existence won’t cut it
- You need to have an author’s page. You should have more than one author with a resource box listing who they are.
- Contact Page: You need to have a page with an About Us and another one with contact information such as email and phone number
- Video and images: Have them integrated into your article.
- Have a news –style website template.
- Your Homepage or Logo should clearly indicate what segment of the news you cover e.g. business, sports
- Publish Stories At Least Three Times A Day
Those are the seven steps to getting an article listed in Google news.
Go through the effort and enjoy your flood of traffic.
