How to Be Included In Google News and Get SWARMS of traffic

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

You want swarms of traffic from Google? Who doesn’t. There’s no surer way to drive armies of traffic to your website than inclusion in Google news.

Recent changes at Google to a system of “Universal Search” are causing Google News results to show up, not only when you use the Google News tab, but whenever you type in anything in the main search box. And Google News search results rank well. Really well.

Now it may not be right for your business, but it’s good to have this option on the table.

First let’s talk about how to get it done. You need to do a Google search for “Submit to Google News” to get to the form.
But they won’t just accept any article that you think might be news.

They are looking for seven characteristics to your site before they let you in and here’s what they are. As you read these you might be thinking “I guess I need to turn my site into a news site” and that’s pretty much what you need to do.

  1. You need to have an original story. A rewriting of a story already in existence won’t cut it
  2. You need to have an author’s page. You should have more than one author with a resource box listing who they are.
  3. Contact Page: You need to have a page with an About Us and another one with contact information such as email and phone number
  4. Video and images: Have them integrated into your article.
  5. Have a news –style website template.
  6. Your Homepage or Logo should clearly indicate what segment of the news you cover e.g. business, sports
  7. Publish Stories At Least Three Times A Day

Those are the seven steps to getting an article listed in Google news.

Go through the effort and enjoy your flood of traffic.

SEO Scams

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

You think you’re SEO is doing a good job because he told you so, right? Wrong. SEO scammers are everywhere on the internet and they make a darn good living off of victims just like yourself.

We pick up where we left off in the last article, making you aware of the 7 ways to know your SEO is a scammer. Here the other three signs you need to be on the lookout for:

  1. They are very concerned with improvement your Page Rank

Page rank is mainly an indicator of how often Google crawls your site. It really is no indication whatsoever of how well you will rank in the search engines. Your site may be more “important” in Google’s eyes, but a more relevant site will always rank better than a more “important” site.

But this is a perfect metric for the SEO scammer to focus on because it takes a long time for the Page Rank to improve and they can keep sucking money out of your account letting you think that you’re actually accomplishing something.

  1. They put tremendous focus on your link quantity:

Wouldn’t you like 1,000 backlinks to your website. I wouldn’t. It’s quality that counts when it comes to links, while quantity runs a distant second.

I had a site with 1,000 backlinks built to it. The links were of such poor quality that the rankings actually went down after all that. That’s because the more links you have the less Google values each link. If you have too many links Google classifies you as a “link farm” and your site will be penalized.

  1. They are overdoing it with the keyword density

It’s the oldest trick in the book and Google has caught onto it long ago. If they want you to rank well for a keyword they’ll stuff that keyword into every nook and cranny on your site and call it “optimization”. All they’re really done is optimize your site for a ban coming to a website near you very soon.

It’s unfortunate that we all have to learn SEO ourselves to an extent so that we can outsource properly. But hopefully with enough education we can run these SEO bloodsuckers out of town.

Make Money Online Methods: Driving Boatloads of Traffic To Your Website

Friday, August 29th, 2008

I’d like to share another great way you can start driving loads of hyper responsive traffic to any website. It’s called: Ezine Ads.

You will find on the web many online publications which publish articles on every topic under the sun called Ezines.

The beauty of advertising on these sites is that the readers there tend to be highly passionate about the topic they are coming to learn about. They are more likely to become buyers than your average visitor from the web.

There are three types of ads that you can purchase when it comes to Ezines:

  1. Classifieds
  2. Sponsored Ads

and

  1. Solo Ads

The real trick here is to find the right Ezine for your product.

You need to be sure that the ezine has a descent amount of readers, but the quality of those readers is also important.

You would be wise to ask the ezine owner what is the conversion rate of the subscriber list i.e. what percentage of readers who receive the ezine actually click on the link in their email and read it. Since you are spending money on this you’ll need to make a smart decision. Realize that a small ezine following that has a very high conversion rate (very passionate readers) is a better place to advertise than one with more visitors but a very low conversion.

Also, become a subscriber to the ezine yourself to see how well it is run and how popular it is.

Once you’ve chosen the ezine for you start out by spending a small amount of money on the ads and see what kind of return on investment you get. If it’s working, buy more, keep searching for an ezine ad that fits your needs.

But don’t give up too soon. One day of testing might not be enough. Be sure to test on weekdays and weekends to ensure you’re getting a clear picture of how effective your advertising is.
