Making Money Online Methods: Dominating Pay Per Click
Friday, August 29th, 2008After five “Google Slaps” in the past several years of Pay Per Click Advertizing it’s come time to separate the men from the boys. Gone are the days when someone could just throw 1,000 keywords into an Adwords campaign without thinking and turn a profit. Try that today and you’ll find your keywords will be deactivated. That’s for the lucky one. For the unlucky ones, they’ll be activated, but burning a hole in your wallet because the bid prices are through the roof.
It’s times like these when the weak marketers will either drop out of the race, and the good marketers will adjust, stay in the game and make even more money. Which kind of marketer will you be?
That all depends on how much you are willing to learn and adjust to what Google Adwords wants from your website and your campaigns.
I’m going to share two simple tips with you today that will help your campaigns succeed in a “post Google slap” era.
To understand why this first tip works so well we need to understand the reasoning behind the Google Slap.
Google is an advertizing company. They make money when people think they have good ads that are worth a click. Google wants do weed out spam and other website that add nothing to the user experience. They are looking to fill their ads with only legitimate companies.
Here is a simple way to help Google view your site as a legitimate business and reward you with a higher quality score and lower click costs:
- Add business pages.
If you simply add pages to your site such as “Terms and Conditions”, “About Us” and “Privacy Policy” you will see dramatic improvement in your quality score. Even more important to the equation is making sure you have a “Contact Us” page which includes your email address and ideally a phone number too.
I know it seems simple to add these pages to your site but you’ll be amazed at how dramatically it will improve the profitability of your Adwords campaign.
- Add and XML sitemap.
One other simple tip is to add an XML sitemap to your site. An XML map is simply a directory of the content on your site making it easier for Google to find out what it’s all about. Any programmer can install such a map for you for a very modest fee and yet this tweak can lower your bid costs up to 35%!
Keep learning about what Google wants from your site with tips like these and you’ll always be ahead of the curve.
