You put months of effort into creating your digital product and sales letter and then some web copy-cat comes along and rips off your entire sales process creating your exact website with only a few minor changes. It hurts. All of the sudden people are starting to think the copycat is the original author and you’re the business bandit! The copycat has cut into your sales and your reputation.
What can you do to stop this from happening?
The answer will take a little work, but will be well worth your while.
The problem is probably that your sales process is too simple. If you’ve got an ebook and you send traffic to a sales page and sell the ebook you have a business that the easiest to copy on the planet.
But what if you spiced things up a bit. What if instead of just selling your ebook directly you sent your prospects to a free offer for a special report or some other kind of whitepaper. Maybe you grab their phone number and tell them about a live seminar coming up online. Then the seminar promotes a low ticket item, but after buying that they are pitched on a higher ticket item.
It’s sort of like having the Club on your car. Can a theif still steal it? Sure! But they’re more likely to move on to a car without the Club because it takes less time.
The same concept applies to your business. The more steps your add into your sales process the less likely it becomes that someone will rip off your business.
Parasites are lazy. Don’t be one. Go the extra mile and at the very least add in a series of autoresponder messages telling people some helpful information about the problem you’re helping them with.
When you expand your sales process in this way you’ll not only stop Business Bandits in their tracks, you find you have more opportunities to make sales and build trust with your prospects.
